for this postcard i get a positive light of having a good time with friends. at first i didn't really see how it went in with the conversation but i guess if you interpreted it as talking about high class and fashion then it works just another case of miss-interpretation threw the decoding process; but it makes sense in the way you interpreted it, it makes sense.
You are right about why it is supposed to fit in the set, but it is supposed to be negative. If you notice, the group in the front all have less than delighted faces. It looks like the blond girl has just said something that didn't go over so well with the couple she was talking to. Therefore, the champagne toast is ruined for some party goers as the rest are blissfully unaware of her transgression.
