Here is the rough draught of my infographic. I decided to pursue the "true cost of the American Dream." I'm also showing how much of the american dream can be purchased at Wal-Mart. What is more Patriotic than spending your bucks on marginal quality imported goods at a big box store?1)Title of Infograph

Great editorial concept Nik! The copy-writing at the top hits this home - I want to see you continue this thread (about Walmart, etc) in the introduction paragraph. Hmmmm... pie charts > apple pie... there's something there.
You're incorporating a decent amount of supporting text. Good. Now work towards more integration between the text and the graphics (currently everything is "labeled" and segregated). Especially explore integrated and dynamic typography within the main piechart in the center.
Also, needs a sense of hierarchy overall. Push up the scale of that central chart to become the focus. Then, lead the eye into the secondary (icons) and then tertiary (other 5 piecharts) read. You are already doing this with directional lines, but can continue to push this with scale and placement.
Establishing yourself a decent flexible grid structure is critical (and will be something you can really clarify when you go digital) - but start to do that here in paper.
